This CD is a collection of ancient chants and songs of Spiritual India. They are bound by one thread, that of bhakti, the practice of spirituality through devotion.
Each song has a unique arrangement, from DJ mixes to traditional kirtan style. Organic instruments such as sarod, mrdanga, kartalas, violin, flute and harmonium share the stage with electronic beats, all in an effort to get your spiritual boogie on!
Live, Sri accompanies the songs with the beautifully seductive classical Indian dance, Mohini Attam. Similar to Hawaiian dance, each hand gesture, eye movement and facial gesture is integral to the story. The CD is DVD enhanced featuring a music video, including beautiful out-takes of India and Sri dancing.

Sri has already perfected what so many are merely attempting these days. From fans of Panjabi MC or Cornershop to fans of Western dance music, this cd is a guaranteed mover ! One of the best features of this cd is the fact that it's origin is genuine and the artist is a legit and seasoned practitioner of the philosophy touted in the lyrics. No watered-down New Age business here...just the real deal. If you can stop yourself from dancing for a moment, check out the lyrical content, the masertful voice singing them should make it a wildly enjoyable experience !

Sri's The Avatar Sessions has enchanting melodies that send the soul to the heavens, and many of the songs are backed up by electronic beats to keep your body moving on earth. The track "Jaya Radha Madhava" is one of the best kirtan songs you'll ever hear. Her rendition of "Govinda Jaya Jaya" will no doubt bring sunshine to your day. The whole album rocks.
Incredible fusion of the modern and ancient.Reviewer: Chord Magazine Editor in ChiefI listen to lots of music... metal, hardcore, dance, world, traditional and a lot of the fusion that's out there, my tastes are very eclectic. This CD really stands out. It's way better than Jai Uttal, Krsna das and the whole Bollywood Bhangra invasion. It's rare to find such a good mix of the authentic and traditional combined with fresh dance beats and sounds. The arrangements are not your average dance mixes, more intellectual... I look forward to more releases from this artist. Durge is my favorite dance track and Gopinath into Govinda Jaya Jaya for a traditional mix. The added DVD is pretty hot.
